What a weekend for Clontarf in sport with the Hockey and Rugby teams both securing big wins. The team at loveclontarf.ie would like to extend our congratulations to both teams!

Clontarf Hockey Club (pictured above) won their first ever national title beating Bandon 3-2 in a thrilling final that went to extra time. Player-coach Gareth Borland was the hero for 'Tarf slotting home the winner in extra time. You can read more about the match here.

Clontarf Rugby's late season rally could be timed to perfection as they beat Terenue 9-0 to advance to the Ulster Bank League final thus setting up a chance to defend their crown which they sensationally won last year.

Matt D'Arcy was the man of the match for Clontarf. One of the stand out backs in the league all season, he had to step up to take over kicking duties from injured regular place kicker, David Joyce. After a couple of early misses, Matt showed what he is made of by successfully kicking the three penalties that ultimately separated these Dublin rivals. A special word of congrats also for near neighbours Raheny United who won their first ever FAI Ladies Cup in another nail biting extra time triumph!
