A Weekend of Sporting Success

04 Oct 2021

Congrats all round today!

Clontarf's Mick Clohisey came home the clear winner of the Belfast City Marathon on Sunday. The Raheny Shamrock man ran a time of 2 hrs and 20 mins. Be sure to give him a wave when you see him out training!

In GAA news, the Clontarf GAA girls under 14 Camogie team were narrowly beaten in their Leinster final game against GTR Kilkenny. They were very unlucky on the day with a few near misses. Congrats on getting to the final.

The U-14 girls' football team fared even better by beating Walterstown/Johnstown of Meath to win the Leinster final and progress to the All-Ireland semis. Amazing result - good luck in the next round.

As a happy coincidence, Mary Walsh was the first Irish lady to cross the line in Sunday's London Marathon in 3 hours 2 mins. Her daughter Jill was on both the U14 teams!

Well done to all and of course to the coaches, mentors, and other support volunteers behind the scenes.
