A Positive Step in Sea Wall Resolution!
We have received the following email from a number of our Public Representatives, which was sent to them from Declan Wallace of Dublin City Council.
This is email is a hugely positive step forward in protecting the Clontarf coast from further construction of the sea wall, and although this is not the end it is a great result for all who have been campaigning against the wall.
It just goes to show that if we all make our voices heard, we can see positive results!
Email from DCC:
Dear Councillor,
Further to the special meeting of City Council last night and the motion agreed in relation to the works at the causeway, I am informing you of the following to avoid any unnecessary confusion . The contractor will be continuing with works on the site but these works will be limited to the water main and the cycle track only, and not the flood defence wall . No further work on the flood defence wall is planned until further notice.
I am also arranging to seek confirmation / clarification from the Law Agent in relation to the perceived conflict between the An Bord Pleanala condition and the Part 8 relating to the period during which work is permitted. I will further progress the issue of the Environment Liaison Committee in the context of the relevant Planning condition.
If you require any clarification please do not hesitate contact me.
Regards,
Declan
