23 Jan 2019

This Sunday, 27th January 2019, marks the 35th Annual Axa Raheny 5 mile. At 3 pm, a sea of competitors will take off at All Saints Park in Raheny, including some of Ireland's top distance athletes, runners, walkers, joggers and those in wheelchairs.

This monumental 35th version of the race, which is the leading Road Race in Ireland, was launched by Clontarf and Raheny Shamrocks' Mick Clohisey. Mick is won the race in 2016, the same year he took part in his first Olympic marathon.

Entries are still open for the event, including the four juvenile races. Those wishing to enter can do so via the Raheny Shamrocks website here. You can also view full course details here.

We would like to point out to residents that due to the race, there will be traffic restrictions on All Saints drive and All Saints Park between 9 am and 6 pm on Sunday. As well as, on All Saints Park, All Saints Road, Wades Avenue, the Howth Road, Sybil Hill Road, Vernon Avenue and Mount Prospect Avenue between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Congratulations to Raheny Shamrocks on 35 years of running this fantastic event, and best of luck to all taking part - including Mick Clohisey who hopes to take 1st place this year.
