Visit John McGahern's Lovely Leitrim!

On Saturday, July 29th, a bus excursion to John McGahern's "Lovely Leitrim" leaves Clontarf at 8 am, returning at 8 pm.

Arguably the greatest Irish writer of his generation, McGahern was dismissed from his teaching post in Belgrove Boys School, Clontarf, by the powerful Catholic Clergy. 

The trip will include a visit to McGahern's childhood home, his local church, the schools he attended and his resting place. There will also bean visit to the infamous Barracks where he and his siblings lived with their father, after the death of their minor. 

Finally, the tour will visit the Arigna Mining experience. 

Dinner is included in the cost of the excursion (€65 pp) and will be served in the Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon.
