It’s November. Halloween. Cold and damp. And about to get worse. Because Matilda, the tornado, is on her way. First thunder. Then rain. Then a deluge of water that bursts from the sky. All a disaster for Liz and Bob Bradshaw whose roof leaks like a sieve
And, to pile on the misery, a planning notice goes up next door. A mystery speculator wants to knock down the neighbour’s house and build a block of apartments.
Then a row between the builder and the roofer; a missing toupee taken by Matilda the tornado: a crazy scheme to excavate the site of the Battle of Clontarf; and to cap it all a flock of canaries looking for Uncle George’s pet shop.
