Outhouse: Caring for Older LGBTQIA+ People in the Community

24 Jun 2026 - 24 Jun 2026 Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre, Dublin 1

Together with Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre, LGBT Ireland is hosting an Information and Networking Event for health and social care professionals on 24th June.

This event will spotlight local initiatives and explore key challenges in supporting older LGBTQIA+ people in the community. As our population ages, it is vital that services are inclusive, affirming, and responsive to the specific experiences and needs of older LGBTQI+ people.

The evening will begin with a brief overview of the LGBT Champions Programme and what it means to be an LGBT Champion in practice — supporting visibility, dignity, and inclusive care within services. This will be followed by a focused panel discussion exploring how we can create meaningful, local change to improve inclusion, visibility, and wellbeing for older members of the LGBTQI+ community.

The panel will feature:

  • A health professional who has successfully implemented inclusive practices within their organisation
  • A member of the Outhouse team speaking about local supports and referral pathways
  • A representative from LGBT Ireland outlining training and capacity-building opportunities
  • An older member of the LGBTQI+ community sharing their lived experience and perspective on inclusive care

With contributions from professionals, community members, and advocates, this event offers an opportunity to get informed, share learning, and connect with others committed to inclusive practice.

This event is open to health and social care professionals, LGBTQI+ community members, and anyone interested in contributing to a more inclusive society.
