'Once in a While The Odd Thing Happens' is a poetic and beautiful play charting the struggle of composer Benjamin Britten to come to terms with his sexuality and the enormity of his musical gift. Through his relationships with poet W H Auden, singer Peter Pears, his beloved sister Beth and friend Beata, Beni seeks assurance, confidence and most importantly his place as an artist and a homosexual man in the tumultuous environs of World War II England and America. During this, Britten’s centenary year, Company D is proud to present this wonderful piece.
