The official memorial medallion was specially struck and minted to commemorate the millennium of the epic Easter 1014 Battle of Clontarf where the forces of the Irish High King Brian Boru defeated the viking invaders.The landmark event was a watershed in Irish history.If this Easter 1014 battle had not happened would Easter 1916 have taken place?
