Irish Wheelchair Association Charity Cycle

01 Aug 2014 - 01 Aug 2014 Phoenix Park, Dublin

Irish record holder and Clontarf native, Cathal Miller, will join fellow cyclists on Saturday, 2nd August 2014 to cycle from the Phoenix Park, Dublin to Eyre Square, Galway in order to raise funds for IWA services. The 200 kilometre route is an ideal event for beginners to experienced cyclists of all abilities, and will support the range of services which Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) provides to people with physical disabilities and other mobility impairments.

Following on from the success of the debut charity cycle last year, the Association are hoping that people with disabilities and cycling enthusiasts from all walks of life will join the group. Other opportunities for volunteers, stewards and support staff are also available for those who wish to come along and support the group on the day. Speaking about the inclusive charity cycle, Cathal Miller who is a member of the Clontarf Cycling Club said:

“The Irish Wheelchair Association charity cycle is Ireland's only fully inclusive cycle and is an ideal platform to promote disability cycling and cycling as a whole. On the day of the event there will be many cyclists of all ages, sizes, abilities and disabilities and all are welcome to register to take part in the one day event. This cycle is a great introduction to sports cycling and events. I encourage all cyclists, whether you are a beginner or advanced to register for the challenge and join the IWA team this August."

The cycle will pass through some of Ireland's most beautiful countryside and will arrive just in time to celebrate the weekend festivities at the Galway Races. If you are interested in joining Irish Wheelchair Association and Cathal Miller along with others from the Clontarf Cycling Club registration is still open and enquiries can be directed to event organisers by emailing cycle@iwa.ie or visiting http://www.iwasport.com/cycle
