Clontarf Historical Society Talk by Micheala Jackson and Cormac McLoughlin
Our first talk of the new season reflects the national interest this year in the Titanic in the centenary of the disaster that befell the ship. The loss of the ship and so many lives was a tragedy that touched the lives of people from all over the world and, in particular, here in Ireland where the ship was built and from where she made her last port of call. When our president, Michael D. Higgins, made his speech to mark the centenary he said: ‘Let us celebrate the memory but let us not celebrate the tragedy’. With this in mind, Micheala and Cormac's presentation celebrates the lives of three Dubliners who worked aboard the Titanic. The presentation starts at 8.15 pm
