Dollymount Beach Clean Up | February 2019
The Bull Island Action Group Monthly Beach Clean Up for February 2019 will take place this Saturday, 16th.
Those wishing to volunteer are asked to arrive at the entrance to Dollymount Strand (just past Royal Dublin Golf Club) at 10:45 AM, in order to begin the clean up at 11 AM
Duration: Two hours.
Equipment: Litter pickers, bag hoops, rubbish bags, and work gloves are provided.
Work areas: The beach, the sand dunes, the inner shore, and the causeway, if we have enough volunteers.
After signing-in, Saturday's volunteers will be divided into four smaller groups. Each of these groups will tackle one of the areas mentioned above. All groups will be led by an experienced Bull Island Action Group volunteer who is very familiar with what needs to be done.
Dublin City Council will provide a tractor and trailer, plus a driver, to remove and dispose of all the rubbish collected by volunteers. The Dublin Port Company will provide litter-picking equipment, such as litter-pickers, bin bag hoops, rubbish bags and gloves.
Cloudy with no rain forecast. There will be a gentle breeze of 4 m/s from the south. The temperature is forecast to be 8 C so it will be quite chilly. Sturdy footwear and thick socks are essential and rubber boots are always a good idea. Despite it set to be overcast, bringing suncream is a good idea too as UV rays can still permeate the clouds.
The Bull Island Action Group look forward to seeing you there!
