Clontarf Yacht & Boat Club Adult Sailing Course
The Clontarf Yacht & Boat Club run an Adult Introduction to Sailing course every May, dedicating a week of sailing to budding trainees. The CY&BC love introducing new people to the sport they love and want to keep it simple, fun and friendly! They spend the majority of the course on the water helping you to start learning the ropes. No experience in sailing is required.
The course is run over the evenings of 22th to the 27th of May.
Start times:
Friday 22nd: 7pm
Saturday: 2:30pm
Sunday: 3:30pm
Monday 25th, Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th: 7pm.
The CY&BC finish up with a Rookie Race & barbecue on Saturday 30th May.
The cost of the course is €200 and this includes:
- introduction to sailing
- principles of sailing
- safety
- weather
- on the water experience (most evenings)
- practical demonstrations
- information handout/booklet
- end of course certificate
All successful trainees receive a certificate which is presented at our celebratory end of course barbecue where trainees can mingle with other sailors and arrange further sailing experiences. Contact (01) 833 2691 for info.
Junior Section
The Junior Sailing Programme is packed full of everything young sailors need to succeed. Clontarf Yacht & Boat Club pioneered junior sailing in Dublin and their first junior course began way back in 1964 and still going strong today. The course runs throughout July. Social Membership is another option if you would like to be part of the social events in the Club. The club holds hold barbecues, quizzes, music gigs, race nights, trad music nights, family days, snooker competitions, walking clubs, cycle trips and lots more!
