Dublin City Council provides a tractor and trailer, plus driver, to remove and dispose of the rubbish collected. The Dublin Port Company provides us with litter-picking equipment.
This month the cleanup coincides with the Big Beach Clean organised by Clean Coasts Ireland. a division of An Taisce, the Irish National Trust. The Big Beach Clean is part of an international initiative. Last year nearly 800,000 volunteers in 94 countries removed 8,164 tonnes of marine litter from the world’s oceans. The action group are expecting to welcome once again their friend Walter and a team of volunteers from among his co-workers in PayPal's Dublin office. This group have been helping out when they can over the past several years and we are really grateful for their efforts.
Please check the weather and tide information for Saturday below. Dress according to the conditions expected and make sure to bring a waterproof jacket - just in case! Sturdy footwear and thick socks are essential and rubber boots are always a good idea. Remember to put on some sunscreen too.
Why not try to persuade a friend or a family member to join you? The more volunteers we have, the greater the amount of work that we can do.
