Bull Island Action Group Beach Clean January 2020

18 Jan 2020 - 18 Jan 2020 Entrance to Royal Dublin, Dollymount Strand

The Bull Island Action Group are delighted to kick off their first Monthly Beach Clean Up for 2020, this Saturday, January 18th.

Those wishing to volunteer are asked to arrive at the entrance to Dollymount Strand (just past Royal Dublin Golf Club) at 10:45 AM to sign in, in order to begin the clean up at 11 AM. After signing-in, Saturday's volunteers will be divided into three or four smaller groups. Each of these groups will tackle one of the areas mentioned above. All groups will be led by an experienced Bull Island Action Group volunteer who is familiar with what needs to be done in each area.

Dublin City Council provides a tractor and trailer, plus a driver, to remove and dispose of the litter we collect. The Dublin Port Company provides us with litter-picking equipment. A Taisce's Clean Coasts Programme is also a huge support to us.

Please check the weather and tide information for Saturday below. Dress according to the conditions expected, but be sure to wrap up well and bring a waterproof jacket, just in case. Please remember to wear rubber boots, or hiking boots, with thick socks! These are essential for the outdoor work that we do on terrain and in conditions,
that can be quite variable, boggy and soggy.

Try to persuade a friend or a family member to join you. The more volunteers we have, the greater the amount of work that we can do. I hope you can join the group on Saturday.

Lastly, as politicians of every hue will be canvassing for votes on 8th February 2020, please make it your business to remind them that you are a volunteer with Bull Island Action Group and make them aware of your concerns about environmental degradation and plastic pollution.

If you use Facebook, please join the Bull Island Action Group and share their events to spread the word. You can also tag your beach clean photos with #bullislandactiongroup
