Battle of Clontarf Brian Boru 10 Mile Road Race

The event also incorporates the 2014 Leinster 10 mile championship. Medals to top three finishers in each age category plus first three teams in the men's and women's senior, 035 and 050 age categories (three to score) On line entries close on Saturday, April 19th at 6pm.

  • Clontarf GAA Club, Seafield Road West, Clontarf, Dublin 3 will be open on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20 between 11am and 4pm to allow participants collect their race number.
  • Race Numbers can also be collected on race day, April 21st from 8.30am to 9.30am from Race HQ in the Red Stables.

The race begins on the Main Avenue in St Anne's Park and the participants complete a loop of the park before exiting onto Sybil Hill Road; the road continues along Vernon Avenue, Castle Avenue, Kincora Avenue, Seapark Road and Mount Prospect Avenue before the runners reenter the Park at the Rose Garden where they complete another loop before the finish on the Main Avenue. They event's nominated charity is Beaumont Hospital, Foundation.

There can’t be many people living on Dublin’s Northside who haven’t had cause to use the services of Beaumont Hospital, whether for themselves or for a loved one. The hospital lies at the heart of the community, providing jobs, healthcare and emergency medical services to people, both young and old.

Beaumont Hospital Foundation (BHF), a charity which operates independently of the hospital’s administration, works to inspire donations which we then use to bring about improvements in patient care. We want Beaumont to be a better place to be a patient and the money you, and other members of the public provide, is used to fund equipment and finance the renovation of public areas in the hospital. We do not receive any government funding and do not fund any salaries, except those of our own staff.

2014 is a proud year for BHF as we have completed the construction of the €2 million Day Care Hospital for Older Persons. The facility is now open and located on the grounds of St Joseph’s Hospital in Raheny. It will provide outpatient services to the elderly in the community, allowing them to access ongoing support away from the main hospital, in the more gentle and caring environment of this dedicated unit. The core of the building costs were funded through the wonderful generosity of a local donor who donated €1.5 million towards the creation of this new medical amenity.

Each year, BHF provide €100K, which the public raise, to fund the hospital’s ongoing need for medical and medical related equipment and renovation work. We receive applications from areas across the hospital for funding which can be for everything as mundane as hand exercise balls to funding state-of-the art equipment to test DNA samples to determine diagnosis and prognosis.
